Southwest settles contracts with its flight attendants and mechanics
Dallas-based Southwest Airlines announced on Sunday June 4th that it had reached contract settlements with both its flight attendants and mechanic unions. The last contracts expired in 2018.
The Southwest Pilots Union has yet to reach an agreement with the airline and in May 2023 the union voted to approve a strike if needed.
Southwest and its pilots’ union have been negotiating for three years trying to reach a contract agreement. The Southwest ground workers Transportation Union is also still in new contract talks. The two unions are the last of 10 Southwest employee unions the airline has been negotiating contracts.

Big Bang on the Bay event seeks permit to use Seal Beach park
John Morris the sponsor and producer of the July 3rd Big Bang on the Bay fireworks show has sought permission to use space in Seal Beach's First Street Park as the charity venue for the annual event.
According to the Seal Beach Sun, Morris is seeking to move the charities fundraising tables from his Boathouse Restaurant to the portions of the Seal Beach Park location:
‘Morris said all he was doing was moving the charities from Boathouse on the Bay to Seal Beach."
In April 2023 a federal judge ruled that the annual show could continue in a lawsuit that the accused the Big Bang event of violating the Clean Water Act. The judge did rule that Morris was required to obtain a federal permit for the show.

LBPD hosts free catalytic converter theft prevention etching event
The Long Beach Police Department will hold a free "Etch and Catch" event for car owners with catalytic converters. Registration for the event is mandatory due to a limited capacity.
The event will be held on Saturday June 17, 2023 from 8 am - 1 pm. at the 4th District Long Beach Health Deparment campus, 2525 Grand Ave.

40th Annual Long Beach Pride tickets on sale
June is the traditional Pride Month in honor of the six-day Stonewall Uprising that began with a NYPD raid on the Stonewall Inn at 1:20 am on June 28, 1969.
This year Long Beach Pride will be the extending Pride season to the following month, on the second weekend in August. Tickets and ticket packages are now on sale.
