MAN SENTENCED FOR HIS PART IN CATALYTIC CONVERTER THEFT RING

A New Florence man was sentenced last week for his part in a series of catalytic converter thefts in the region.

26-year-old William Glover III of New Florence pleaded guilty to felony charges of theft, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief and was ordered to serve 23 months in prison and pay nearly $140,000 in restitution. He was one of four suspects in a series of catalytic converter thefts between October 10th and November 8th. Police said that Glover, along with 44-year-old Vince Skillings of Derry; 56-year-old Debbra Lynn McAdams, and 27-year-old Steven Aukerman, both of Blairsville, stole 10 converters in the spree. At least ten of those thefts happened at a dealership in Hempfield, and two trucks from Fastenal in Lower Burrell among other thefts.

Police believe that McAdams planned the thefts and drove the getaway vehicle. She confessed to her involvement and identified Skillings, Aukerman and Glover as confederates. She told police that Aukerman and Glover cut the catalytic converters while Skillings was a lookout. The cases against Skillings, Aukerman and McAdams are still pending.
