Indian compact tractor brand Solis has entered new territory with its biggest

Indian compact tractor brand Solis has entered new territory with its biggest UK-bound tractor yet – the 90 Shuttle XL.

As the name suggests, its four-cylinder, 4.1-litre turbocharged engine is rated to 90hp, and torque peaks at 375Nm.

The block is built in-house by Solis parent company ITL – albeit with some Yanmar influence given the Japanese engine maker has a 30% stake in the company – and meets Stage 5 emissions limits with the fitment of a diesel oxidation catalyst, particulate filter and AdBlue system.

Power runs through a 12-speed Synchro Shuttle gearbox as standard, offering a top speed of 35kph.

However, buyers can spec a Super Creeper version that ups the ratio count to 20 and top speed to 40kph.

Working credentials include 540 and 540eco pto speeds, 65-litre/min hydraulics, a Cat 2 rear linkage rated to 3t, and a pair of rear spools.

A joystick to work them is optional, as is a cab as an alternative to the roll-over protection frame.

Hydraulic brakes, air conditioning and a better seat are also available from the upgrade list.

Various radial tyres are on offer, the biggest of which are 420/65 R24 and 540/65 R34s.

Solis, like several other compact tractor manufacturers, has also developed an all-electric model.

Dubbed the 26 Electric, it is designed for smallholders with a means of on-site electricity generation.

It is rated to just under 18kW (24hp), carries a 330Ah battery to fuel the 72V electrical system, and drives all four wheels via a two-range hydrostatic transmission. Top speed is 22kph.

Other features of note are its 22kph top speed, 540 rear pto, Cat 1 three-point linkage rated to 800kg, and a 25-litre/min hydraulic system.
