Assistance will only apply to vehicle owners who can have the repairs completed by June 1.

The Catalytic Converter Assistance Program, authorized by the Colorado Auto Theft Prevention Authority and Colorado State Legislature, allows people to receive financial assistance to replace stolen catalytic converters, according to a Colorado State Patrol news release.

"The impacts of catalytic converter theft often include temporary loss of a vehicle until repairs are made, replacement and installation costs of the catalytic converters and potential effects on insurance rates," the release said.

A committee will review all applications to determine the recipients of the limited assistance, such as the reimbursement and amount of each award.
